To the Teacher … A Workbook with Internet Resources!

Following each lesson in the workbook The African-American Experience: Stories of Courage and Determination, you will find suggestions for things for your students to do. The computer symbol in each list of things to do indicates suggestions for Internet resources with more information about the individual in the lesson, or related information, that will be of interest to you and to your students.  If you or your class have Internet access, you will find these resources of great value in supplementing each lesson.  Further, Internet links on these sites often point to still other resources, offering a wealth of related information for interested students to explore.

Most of these references in the workbook suggest searches on the Internet using the keywords or phrases listed; a few include actual www or URL Internet addresses.  Use one of the web portal search engines such as www.google.com or www.yahoo.com to search on these keywords or phrases. For searches on more than a single word, enclose the phrase in quotes, such as “solar eclipse”, and use all lower case letters.

Most of the references listed in the workbook do not include the actual Internet addresses because these are often subject to change. Therefore, rather than list specific Internet addresses that may change from time to time, New Intelligence Inc. maintains this Internet resource page on our web site, in order to provide an up-to-date list of links to other resources on the Internet that can be revised and updated as necessary.

The following list for The African-American Experience: Stories of Courage and Determination is in the order of the lessons in the workbook.

We want to express our appreciations for the organizations and institutions -- in blue text -- that have generously given us permission to include the following links to their Internet resources.

If you have suggestions for additional Internet resources that you are aware of and that might be of interest to others using the workbook and these related resources, please use the notification form at the end of the list to let us know about them.  Thanks!
